A North Korean propaganda poster shows US troops pulling a woman's teeth out. It is one of many posters shown in North Korea, which usually depicts enemy troops as savage and barbaric. This piece of art is thought to have been made in 2005, and it is meant to depict a torture scene during the Korean War, a proxy war that saw American troops aid the democratic government of South Korea, which was fighting against a communist North Korea. It lasted from 1950 - 1953 and is often called "The Forgotten War" as it was overshadowed by the Vietnam War, and because it took place soon after the end of World War II. It is unclear if these images are in museums in North Korea or if they are displayed in public. The imagery in these photos tends to show US troops as ghoulish and gaunt, while the Korean characters tend to be pretty or handsome, and oftentimes are wearing white, possibly to signify purity or to highlight blood depicted in the scenes, or both This poster is just to displ...

French soldier moving the body of a fallen German soldier with a wheelbarrow, ca. 1915. . Colourised by 'DURIEZ Frederic' on Flickr. . Today 109 years ago, on January 8, 1915, the Battle of Crouy began, also called the Battle of Soissons, between French and German forces as part of the First Battle of Champagne. . On December 20, 1914, the French launched the First Battle of Champagne along a 19-km-long front near the city of Reims. Although achieving small gains and suffering huge casualties, the Germans were badly outnumbered and were in need of relief from the French attacks. . In order to shorten their lines and disrupt the French offensive, the Germans planned an attack on the village of Crouy situated right on the Aisne river, northeast of the city of Soissons, with the aim of conquering the Vregny Plateau dominating the plains. The Germans would pin their 5th Infantry Division and 7th Reserve Division against the French 55th and 56th Infantry Divisions. . The German atta...

The man who attacked the Las Vegas judge last week is back in court in front of the same judge, this time in shackles, mitts, and a muzzle🫤 Edited · He wasn’t tryna go bacc to jail she denied his probation & his actions got him more time 😢 This breaks my heart ion care what no one says maybe just maybe she was not being fair maybe he thought he deserved to go out on probation I feel for him Now on a more serious note does anyone know his info i’d like to put money in his books ?? He needs a new judge though, she is biased and should be excluded from his case as now she is a victim Obviously, he has a mental health issue: In our community the unseen noise is silent but we learn how to swim through the waves. In the fact, that he’s in a muzzle speaks volumes of how a black man whose crying for help gets treated like an animal: But if a Caucasian man that’s having trouble with life and surrounded by a dozen of👮 👮♂️ 👮 gets treated with empathy and compassion enough to give hi...

Postmortem photos began to emerge shortly after commercial photography itself became available in 1839, and carried on being popular into the early 20th century. These photos varied considerably in presentation. The dead were not always photographed in their caskets, as you might expect. Often, they were propped up in chairs, occasionally alongside the living. Sometimes, the deceased's cheeks were coloured to mask the telltale signs of decomposition, or the eyes drawn over to look as if they were open. R. B. Whittaker in New York described the latter services as “Fast Asleep and Wide Awake” in an advertisement card from 1860. By far one of the most unusual postmortem photos I’ve come across is that of Thomas Jefferson Souder and his wife, Mary. It was taken at the time of their deaths in July, 1921. The couple died within 48 hours of each other from “the flux,” known today as dysentery—an intestinal inflammation that causes severe diarrhea that leads to rapid loss of fluids, dehydr...

Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were American citizens who spied on behalf of the Soviet Union and were tried, convicted, and executed by the federal government of the United States. They provided top-secret information about radar, sonar, and jet propulsion engines and were accused of transmitting valuable nuclear weapon designs; at that time the United States was the only country in the world with nuclear weapons. Other convicted co-conspirators were sentenced to prison, including Ethel's brother, David Greenglass (who had made a plea agreement), Harry Gold, and Morton Sobell. Klaus Fuchs, a German scientist working in Los Alamos, was convicted in the United Kingdom. For decades, the Rosenbergs' sons Michael and Robert Meeropol, and many other defenders maintained that Julius and Ethel were innocent of spying on their country and were victims of Cold War paranoia. After the fall of the Soviet Union, much information concerning them was declassified, including a trove of decoded So...

Just a reminder of how Christianity became so popular today
Just a reminder of how Christianity became so popular today Just a reminder of how Christianity became so popular today. During the reign of Charlemagne women were impaled on sharpened poles put in the vagina. Slowly over days the pole would travel the length of the body through the organs causing tremendous pain, simply because a woman was found collecting herbs in the forest. She was labeled a witch. Their screams could be heard for days as an example to those who would not accept the foreign faith. Christianity became so popular because of sheer terror of what would happen if it wasn't accepted. And people think the Nazis were horrible.... Read more This is still happening today in the form of collective social pressure. Say your a pagan and your immediately labeled dangerous, evil, and a threat to the world. Brotherhood of Magni Kindred "Nation-Wide" The culture supported hatred of women then and now. Female Kurdish fighter from the Kurdistan Workers' Party (ygs Partiya Karkerên Kurdistan, PKK) captured by Turkish Army soldiers
Female Kurdish fighter from the Kurdistan Workers' Party (ygs Partiya Karkerên Kurdistan, PKK) captured by Turkish Army soldiers. Gassed and poisoned by Saddam. Shot and blown up by Turks. Betrayed by America. Kurds remain a rock of stability in a sea of violence and mistrust. A brave and stubborn people, wanting a home to call their OWn. I support Kurdish independence and freedom. Very hard to say any administration has done well in this region of the world. I agree, it was tragic when the Obama administration set a hard and fast withdrawal date from Irag. Resulted in part to the rise of ISIL. But compared to uncle Joe, the guy seems like Churchill. There are different Kurdish groups, though all want their own nation carved out of other countries, so that is going to be a violent struggle for the ages. Not really that easy to pick good guy over bad guy here. But the Kurds were one of the fevw to effectively fight ISIL. The Turks, well, the Ottomans didn't seem to have an issue...

Two engineers, trapped on top of a burning wind turbine, hug eachother. One jumped off, the other stayed. This picture is from Ooltgensplaat, the Netherlands, in 2013. This wind turbine caught fire as two technicians were working on it, and there really wasn't much they could do once the blaze got going. In this picture, the two embrace before one tries his luck at jumping almost 200 feet to his death. The other tried crawling down through the tube, only to get trapped inside. They were 19 and 21 years old.... Read story October 31, 2013 (Netherlands) – Two young mechanics, ages 19 and 21, died when a fire broke out in a wind turbine where they were performing routine maintenance. The tragedy occurred at Deltawind’s Piet de Wit wind farm in the Netherlands, but highlights the hazards associated with fires caused by wind turbines. According to the Netherlands Times, “because of the height, the fire department initially had trouble extinguishing the fire in the engine ro...
The Japanese Army forced 75,000 Allied prisoners to march 65 miles through the Philippines
The Japanese Army forced 75,000 Allied prisoners to march 65 miles through the Philippines "They called it a ' death march ' because of the way they died. If you stopped on the road, you were killed. If you had a malaria attack, they killed you. If you had to stop to defecate, they killed you. If you just couldn't take another step, they killed you." After Japan defeated the U.S. in the Battle of Bataan in April 1942, The Japanese Army forced 75,000 Allied prisoners to march 65 miles through the Philippines. After nearly 80,000 American and Filipino soldiers surrendered to the Japanese following the excruciating three-month Battle of Bataan, there were even greater horrors in store for them. The prisoners were forced to march more than 60 miles through the tropical heat of the Philippines with almost no water and just one bowl of rice for the entire week. And those who survived the marching were treated to worse brutality by their captors. The luckier victims w...
