Investigation now shows the image to be made of three separate prints: (1) the head is taken from a portrait of Grant; (2) the horse and body are those of Major General Alexander M. Cook; and (3) the background is of Confederate prisoners captured at the battle of Fisher’s Hill, Virginia. 3. Kent State Massacre Fencepost Removal, 1970 In this Pulitzer Prize winning photogr...

Most so-Called “Medieval Torture Devices” are fake actually made up by hoaxers, showmen, and con artists in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries Yes, there's evidence they were ever actually used. Mostly, they appear in funny drawings and early cartoons. Most likely, they were just a common joke of the time. Which, if you think about it, makes perfect sense. A pair of handcuffs will irritate the skin to the point of open wounds, if worn for too long. Now, imagine a piece of metal that goes between your thighs . People were wearing that for months? Working in the fields, with that between their legs? the history of chastity belts: The earliest mentions of these belts were in the form of obvious jokes. They likely didn't exist in physical form until the 16th or 17th centuries. And, even then, they were created for display in "torture museums." The chastity belt as we know it was most likely a 19th-century invention. "It seems to have been a part of ...

Using Wag, she booked 4 1/2 days with 26-year-old Casey Brengle. The women agreed on a price of $315; they even discussed house rules, typical daily schedules, and the doggy cam located on the kitchen counter. “She had 210 five-star reviews and I’m thinking, okay, this is great,” Brown told ABC 7 News The key exchange and first day of the dog sitting went off without a hitch…but then Rosie received an alert from her doggy cam. So, she decided to check in with the app — and what she found horrified her... read and watch the video “On the preview on the alert, it showed a man in our house, someone that I wasn’t expecting,” the down owner said. “So I opened it up and that’s when I saw she was there with a man in our house and they were going straight for our bedroom.” The footage showed the dog sitter making out with a ma...
Florida's Messiest Execution
Florida's Messiest Execution On July 8, 1999, the execution of Allen Lee Davis set off a shock wave that rippled around the world. During his time in the electric chair, Davis bled profusely from the nose and suffered burns to his head, leg, and groin area. As the switch was thrown, the “Tiny” Davis, who was executed for the May 11, 1982, murder of Nancy Weiler and her two daughters, reared back against the restraints, giving witnesses a chilling glimpse under a black hood designed to hide the faces of the condemned. Blood poured from his vivid purple nose, ran down the wide leather strap that covered his mouth and soaked the white shirt. After the power was turned off, Davis was still alive. Witnesses said his chest rose and fell about 10 times before he went still. After the execution, state prison officials and Governor Jeb Bush said the Old Sparky functioned properly. Three photos of the incident have been published on Florida’s High Court official website in an attempt to argu...

Shackles, convulsions and sheer terror: life on death row in China
Shackles, convulsions and sheer terror: life on death row in China However limited Akmal Shaikh's mental capacities, the 4kg of heroin that he brought into Urumqi Airport in 2007 means that he faces a truly terrible fate. In China, he is far from alone. Some 68 crimes carry the death penalty, including corruption and tax fraud as well as murder; more people are executed by the state here than in any other country. While some Chinese provinces have switched to the lethal injection as a means of execution, Xinjiang province has not and Mr Shaikh will be executed by a bullet to the back of the neck. The blog testimony of one worker closely involved in the execution process gives a grisly insight into exactly how executions happen in China. It's a nightmare world he describes, in which a disconsolate, condemned man sitting in handcuffs, with fetters on his feet, discusses funeral arrangements with his relatives, before the police take him off to the place of execution. "Arriv...
