The British cleaner says in the six years she's been working as a naked cleaner she's had a range of clients - including some who just want company, naturists, and others who 'hope for something more'. The cleaner, who describes herself as 'free-spirited' says the role has made her feel more body confident and even says it's empowering. Lottie said: 'There's a fair few people who are creepy - a handful of the guys I clean for book cleaners on the premise they will get something else. Vietnamese bar girls & GFs of the 1960s & 1970s (many pics) These are some pretty nice looking ladies. I suppose I have an affinity with those times as my primary and secondary school years coincided with the Vietnam war and it ended the year I left school/home. Growing up as a teenager, our family had the habit of eating an early dinner and then watching the news on TV at 7pm. And of course the Vietnam war featured in the headlines. So I grew up on a diet of this sort of news. I still have vivid memories of the monk who splashed petrol and lit himself in protest, the viet traitor guy that was shot in the head point blank with a pistol in the street and the napalm girl running away for help.. Around 1971-72, my father was offered a job on a hydro dam project in Cambodia and was all set to go and then, the civil war there got worse and the project was shut down. Australia had a ballot system for conscription to serve in Vietnam and my older brother drew a short straw with his mo...

The public executions of Indian Muslims soldiers by British firing squad for refusing to fight in WWI (The 1915 Singapore Mutiny) The 5th Light Infantry Regiment of the Indian Army arrived in Singapore from Madras in October 1914. They had been sent to replace the Yorkshire Light Infantry, which had been ordered to France. The regiment was a long established one dating from 1803. Unusually for 1914-15 it was an entirely Muslim unit. In November 1914, the British government decided to send the 5th Light Infantry to Hong Kong. However, rumours were circulated among the sepoys that they might be sent to Europe or Turkey, to fight against their Muslim brethren. When the order to sail to Hong Kong aboard the Nile arrived in February 1915, the sepoys (Indian soldiers), believing the rumours to be true, decided it was the time to rebel. The Bolshevik's (Russians) would round up every village in the east and south of Poland and cleanse them whilst leaving behind the women for rape before k...

These 7 inventions were supposed to change the world. They failed. Badly

In 2001, author Steve Kemper got a $250,000 advance to write about a forthcoming invention that, he said, "would sweep over the world and change lives, cities, and ways of thinking." The media went into a frenzy trying to predict what it might be. Some sort of miraculous Stirling engine that would run on hydrogen, perhaps? The invention turned out to be the Segway, and it was more punchline than revolutionary transportation device. As you've probably noticed, the Segway never became a feasible alternative to cars in developing nations (as its inventor Dean Kamen predicted) and it didn't solve the problem of gridlock. History is filled with examples of new inventions that supporters thought would be transformational — and then turned out to be minor fads. And these failures show how hard it is for inventors to anticipate society's needs. It's tough to predict what will change the world, because it's tough to predict how the world will change. 1) ...

The first known mention of the infamous Iron Maiden torture device comes from 18th-century writer Johann Philipp Siebenkees
The first known mention of the infamous Iron Maiden torture device comes from 18th-century writer Johann Philipp Siebenkees, who described it in a guidebook to the city of Nuremberg, Germany, claiming that it was used in the execution of a criminal in 1515. Siebenkees wrote that the man died "slowly, so that the very sharp points penetrated his arms, and his legs in several places, and his belly and chest, and his bladder and the root of his member, and his eyes, and his shoulder, and his buttocks, but not enough to kill him, and so he remained making great cry and lament for two days, after which he died." But today, many scholars believe that Siebenkees invented this story, perhaps playing off of Enlightenment-era assumptions that the Middle Ages were an uncivilized and barbaric time. And while torture most certainly existed during the Middle Ages, historians have argued that medieval torture was much simpler than later accounts would suggest — and that devices like the Iro...
Clifford Hoyt, 31, suffered serious injuries in a car accident in 1999
Clifford Hoyt, 31, suffered serious injuries in a car accident in 1999. After he regained consciousness, he told a terrified nurse that he had died and visited hell. He told her of the torture and anguish he experienced in frightening detail. He refused psychological treatment and was released. Several weeks later, Hoyt's neighbours complained that strange music was coming from his apartment at all hours of the night. Upon investigation, the landlord found Hoyt in this condition. Hoyt was still quite lucid and protested when the landlord attempted to call the police.... Concerned for the damage caused to his apartment, the landlord took several photographs, which the above is an example of. He left and contacted Hoyt's family, who contacted authorities. Hoyt claimed that demons from hell were still trying to capture him. He explained that his body would burn constantly unless he played music to scare the demons away. He would only leave his house for short periods of time to...

On this day, November 3, 2017, Naked woman made to parade round office to boost' colleagues' morale In another blatant show of male chauvinism in the workplace, people have reacted angrily to a footage that has emerged showing a woman being paraded naked around her office to ‘boost morale.’ The stunt which took place at a call centre in Warsaw, Poland is believed to have been set up by the woman’s boss because she wanted to motivate her staff. Wearing nothing but sunglasses and boots she went around the office in scenes reminiscent of the Wolf of Wall Street. Her boss is said to have paid her to perform for her workers and she is seen flipping the bird at the camera before getting dressed again then going back to her desk. The woman is believed to have quit her job soon after the video emerged online. Reacting to the video, one social media user said, "No values, money rules this filthy world.’ Another, called Buu also commented, ‘The world is ending… people behave like an...
Colonial Masters Posing With Women In The 70s
Colonial Masters Posing With Women In The 70s Here is the moment when the colonial masters are posing with women... Read story Hammock boys carry a railway engineer/track inspector in colonial Nigeria, 1910. Hammock boys, as they were referred to by the colonial masters, were paid 25-30 shillings carrying their masters from village to village. “When we speak of ‘shooting’ with a camera, we are acknowledging the kinship of photography and violence.” Teju Cole This visual essay will assess the ways in which early photography was used as a tool to justify Europe’s colonial project in Africa in the 19th and 20th centuries, by depicting Black Africans as inferior to white Europeans. It will also consider how the camera was used during the same period in the United States for a similar purpose, namely, to further the cause of white racial superiority. Africa: photography and the colonial project The invention of photography occurred at a most opportune moment for Eur...
