Two boys teach each other new skills, 1962 As a guest of a Maasai tribe, 9-year-old Kevin from New York travelled to Kenya with his stepfather. There, he grew close to the chief's son Dionni. Kevin wrote in his diary: “The Maasai taught me lots of things. They are very nice people and we had no problems understanding each other. They taught me to shoot the heaviest bow I have ever seen and I taught Dionni how to play baseball and write his name. He doesn’t speak any English and I learned 11 words in Swahili.” Welcome to Summitgist.blogspot.com This is a blog site that focused on all that’s interesting and matters and history event. The robe and axe of the executioner Giovanni Battista Bugatti, who was the executioner for the papal States from 1796 to 1864. He executed 514 people during his time as an executioner. Bugatti specialised in hanging, beheading and malleting the condemned prisoners. He retired at 85 and was an executioner as a part-time job, but sold umbrellas and other souvenirs to tourists as his main job in Rome. He died in 1869. His role as an executioner lasted for 68 years and 148 days. As it is more unknown, here is what Malleting is. It is a form of execution that was reserved for the most loathsome crimes. A prisoner is brought to the execution scaffold and is hit in the head with a large mallet. This usually knocked the prisoner unconscious, and then their throat would be slit. It was discontinued in 1806 for its brutality. Welcome to Summitgist.blogspot.com This is a blog site that focused on all that’s interesting and matters and history event. An accidental selfie was taken by Tsar Nicolas II, the last tsar of Russia. It is possible that he accidentally took a photo of himself, or that his camera has just randomly captured a photo, nonetheless, it is relatable to modern times. Nicolas II was the last tsar of Russia and the last Tsar of the Romanov royalty family line, and is known in history for being a particularly poor leader. When communist organizations such as the Bolsheviks grew in power in Russia during the early 1900s, they took control of Russia in October 1917, which became known as the October Revolution. This rebellion was largely due to poor infrastructure, the effects World War I was having on Russia, and the lack of access to food to the general public, as well as the terrible economy at the time. The Bolsheviks, led by Vladimir Lenin, seized power in Russia after the Russian Republic was established after the abdication of the Tsar. Lenin's seizure of power would lead to the establishment of the Soviet Un

Described as 'mutineers' by the Japanese occupiers of Manchuria, the heads were hung in old Chinese quarter of the city. Ca. Nov. 1937. The Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army conducted a protracted campaign which threatened the stability of the Manchukuo regime and the Japanese colonial rule, especially during 1936 and 1937. By the beginning of 1937, it comprised eleven corps in three armies, estimated by the Japanese to be about 20,000 men. Lacking the troops and  materiel  to conduct full-scale  conventional warfare , the army's strategies were primarily to form  pockets of resistance  in occupied areas to harass the Japanese troops and undermine their attempts at local administration, and t

A s*ic*de attacker lies on the ground after his vest was defused in Jalalabad province, on June 30, 2013. Afghan security forces captured the would-be attacker before he was able to blow himself up. A suicide blast  outside an election commission office  in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad has  killed at least seven people and wounded several others, sources told Al Jazeera. The target of Saturday’s attack appeared to be a protest camp in Nangarhar province, where a group of people were rallying in support of a candidate disqualified from parliamentary elections due to take place in October. Attaullah Khogyani, a spokesman for the provincial governor, said the blast happened when supporters of the disqualified candidate were trying to shut down the election commission office. “We had requested the protesters to stop their demonstrations because they could be targeted by fighters but they rejected our security message,” said Khogyani. August has already been a bloody month in  Afgha

War in Ukraine photographed by Carol Guzy

War in Ukraine photographed by Carol Guzy For the “first time in 40 years, I’ve had this unbelievable feeling of dread that I couldn’t shake, and I still have it,” Guzy said. “I’m not sure if the dread is like a warning to me [for] my personal safety or it’s just been this overwhelming evil that’s happening.” • Rather than head for the frontlines, Guzy decided she would cover the war from the fringes, focusing primarily on stories about refugees. But as she watched the civilian casualties mount, she found staying on the sidelines in this conflict more difficult than she had expected. • Carol Guzy , Paula Bronstein @pbbphoto , Heidi Levin @heidi_levine are among the women photographers that contributed their work to the book Ukraine: A War Crime. This historic book united ninety-five photojournalists from 29 countries, to share their firsthand experience about covering the Russian invasion of Ukraine. A neighborhood watch member was burned alive after being injured by gunfire from Myanmar’s security forces in Aungmyethazan Township, Mandalay. Residents said soldiers raided Mintae Eikin ward on Saturday night after the ward administrative office was burned. • During the raid, U Aye Ko, 40, was left behind after being shot. He was dragged away and set on fire at a roadblock by the junta’s forces, witnesses told the media. • Residents said they were unable to rescue the volunteer as soldiers were deploying in the area, threatening to shoot anyone who approached. • Around 40 houses were also reportedly burned in Mandalay Region’s Pyigyitagon Township after midnight. Residents were prevented from helping their neighbors – who were banging pots and pans – put out the fires by soldiers. • March 2021 Welcome to Summitgist.blogspot.com This is a blog site that focused on all that’s interesting and matters and history event. When they were a few hundred yards from the headland of Dungeness, four men clambered from the vessels into a pair of rowing boats, and made their way silently to shore. The four were Carl Meier, 23, a Dutch-born Nazi party member who had spent a little time in Birmingham before the war; Charles van den Kieboom, 25, a Dutch-Japanese dual national; Sjoerd Pons, 28, a Dutchman; and a 25-year-old who described himself as German and called himself Jose Waldberg.
