Lost Girl, 1945 Known as " Lost Girl " this series of pictures is taken from a small video clip of the same name. It shows a woman walking down a road, who then looks at the camera in a close-up shot, which reveals the extent of her injuries on her face. For years, her identity was unknown, however, historians have been able to put a name to this woman's face, as well as her story . Her name was Lore Bauer. Born in Kollerschlag, Austria 1921. She was assigned to the Prague anti-aircraft department in late 1944 as a technical assistant, or Helferin. R*ped and beaten by Czech Partisans , Lore was caught fleeing the Red Army into West Czechoslovakia, which had just been declared a demarcated American military zone. Lore survived the Allied internment camp system, and then went on to build a new life, working for an airline company after the war. She died in 94', at the age of 73... The soldier who went on a one man rampage, 1968 Roy P Benavidez was born in Texas in 1935. His father was Mexican and his mother was Yaqui native Mexican. They both died of tuberculosis when Benavidez was young. He was bullied for his Mexican accent and heritage in school and worked hard labour to support his family, but dreamed of joining the US Army. At the age of 15, he dropped out of school to work on a farm. However, as soon as he was ready, Roy enlisted in the US armed forces. He also got married around this time and had 3 children. In 1965, Roy qualified for the special forces and was deployed to Vietnam. Roy was on a secret surveillance mission dressed as a Vietcong fighter when he stepped on a landmine. He was sent back to America and in hospital, he was told that he would never walk again.
