The public executions of Indian Muslims soldiers by British firing squad for refusing to fight in WWI (The 1915 Singapore Mutiny) The 5th Light Infantry Regiment of the Indian Army arrived in Singapore from Madras in October 1914. They had been sent to replace the Yorkshire Light Infantry, which had been ordered to France. The regiment was a long established one dating from 1803.
