I have a feeling its a faked propaganda shot. Edit: Normally with authentic images of this sort, you find a lot of links on a reverse image search that link to historical and academic websites. The many different websites that turn up with this image are white supremacy, blog posts and conspiracy websites. This isn't exactly inspiring my confidence. I know the Japanese committed insane amounts of atrocities in China (and elsewhere), however first hand images are very rare. They weren't fools. Most of the authentic images you find were taken by survivors after the soldiers moved on. A quick googling shows quite a lot of "horrific" images that are clearly fakes. P. promptly defended the photographs as authentic, backed their statement with the word of famed Newshawk James A. Mills, of their Shanghai office.
