Postmortem photos began to emerge shortly after commercial photography itself became available in 1839, and carried on being popular into the early 20th century. These photos varied considerably in presentation. The dead were not always photographed in their caskets, as you might expect. Often, they were propped up in chairs, occasionally alongside the living. Sometimes, the deceased's cheeks were coloured to mask the telltale signs of decomposition, or the eyes drawn over to look as if they were open. R. B. Whittaker in New York described the latter services as “Fast Asleep and Wide Awake” in an advertisement card from 1860.
By far one of the most unusual postmortem photos I’ve come across is that of Thomas Jefferson Souder and his wife, Mary. It was taken at the time of their deaths in July, 1921. The couple died within 48 hours of each other from “the flux,” known today as dysentery—an intestinal inflammation that causes severe diarrhea that leads to rapid loss of fluids, dehydration and eventually death.

Man beat and stripped cheating wife fully naked – As neighbours stood to watch (See Photos)
Man beat and stripped cheating wife fully naked – As neighbours stood to watch (See Photos) Man beat and stripped cheating wife – Just saw a gruesome video online that broke my heart. Men… and even women stood and watched as this man stripped his wife to her underwear and brutally beat her with a plank. The people who posted the video online said he beat her to death, but that isn’t shown in the video. The last seconds of the video shows the man dragging the very weak woman away. They said the man attacked his wife after catching her with another man. And no, it didn’t happen in Nigeria. I screen-grabbed from the video. When Dennis Rader murdered a family of four in cold blood, he made the children watch as he strangled their parents. Then, he took the 11-year-old girl to the basement where he removed her underwear and hung her from a sewer pipe. He told the girl, "Well, honey, you’re going to be in heaven tonight with the rest of your family." This is the most brutal tortures ever done in history
This is the most brutal tortures ever done in history Innocent Sikh martyrs who were killed mercilessly by Mughals/Turks/Afghan Tyrants but never accepted Islam despite all luxuries promised by Muslim invaders. Along with others pic so let's start. Photo of Bhai Mati Das Ji (1621–1675) sawn into two pieces by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. He was martyred mercilessly in front of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji it was done so that 9th Guru may change his decision and convert to Islam but he never did neither his followers Bhai Mati Das Ji,Bhai Dyala Ji,Bhai Sati Das Ji so Aurangzeb couldn't convert Kashmiri Pandits either as they started a revolt against these fanatics and this supreme sacrifice willingly lead to enthusiasm among weak and oppressed ones... Pandit Kirpa Dutt a Saraswat Brahman was a Kashmiri Pandit too who became Kirpa Singh Dutt and later sacrificed himself in Final Battle of Chamkaur for 10th Sikh Guru. Another Kashmiri pandit Gangu (Ganga Ram Kaul father of Raj kaul) was also...

Above, Governor Wall hanging on a gibbet with a cloth over his head; below, Governor Wall ordering the flogging of a naked man who is tied to a block. Etching. Wall was hanged in 1802 for flogging to death three soldiers without trial in Gorée, West Africa (The Gambia or Senegal) in 1782 ... Read story Joseph Wall (1737–28 January 1802) was a British Army officer and Lieutenant Governor of Gorée, an island near Dakar, Senegal, who was executed in London for the fatal flogging of one of his soldiers. The former colonial administrator, who had previously been arrested for cruelty, was hanged outside Newgate Prison eight days after a one-day trial at the Old Bailey. Thousands of people came to watch the execution because of the notoriety of the case. Wall was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1737, a son of Garrett Wall of Derryknavin, near Abbeyleix in Queen's County, who is described as "a respectable farmer on Lord Knapton's estates". At the age of 15, Joseph Wall was...
A downed B-29 crew member being taken by Japanese troops in Nigata, Japan (July 20, 1945)
A downed B-29 crew member being taken by Japanese troops in Nigata, Japan (July 20, 1945) Japanese soldiers rescue a B-29 crew. Japanese Troops rescue a U.S. B-29 crew member who was being lynched by Japanese civilians. Many downed air crew members in captivity at the time of the Japanese surrender were actually executed by their guards in the confusion because of the guards' anger over having to feed and care for the enemy. Thousands of Allied prisoners were killed throughout the war, especially towards the end, as they were being put (packed) into transport ships that were then attacked by US airplanes and submarines. Propaganda is insane. The Japanese government committed unspeakable atrocities and raped like half of China and the Pacific Islands, but they go ballistic when given a small taste of their own medicine As a B-29 bomber, he was probably tortured to death. Bomber crewmen were absolutely despised by the population of the Axis countries, for obvious reasons. He most lik...
