My goodness what kind of a deadender do you have to be in March 1945 to be working hand in glove with the Nazi's to screw the Americans/French/British? That is some insane level commitment.

“Richard Jarczyk, Nazi soldier, who became a spy in civilian clothes, was executed April 23, 1945, after court trial by a military commission of the Seventh U.S. Army. After he had discarded his uniform, Jarczyk, former member of the Volks Grenadier Division, approached U.S. Army officials and offered his services in establishing a civilian government in an occupied area of the Reich. U. S. Military authorities discovered his true role and he was brought to trial April 6, when he confessed special training for sabotage and espionage. The penalty was death by a firing squad.”

For a fanatical Nazi, though, saluting Hitler was like praising God. It was a personality cult.

This is a little OT, but in 2009 I was abducted and raped by a man who beat and choked me and threatened me with a knife. I was not 100% sure he would not kill me, until after he let me go and I made it home. I spent two hours with him, constantly contemplating my possible impending demise and ways to prevent it, and decided if he became aggressive again (there was an initial blitz attack, then he calmed down once I was under his control and had stopped fighting him and trying to run away) I would try to kiss him and hug him and act like found him really sexy. I would tell him I loved him. It might make him stop hurting me, I would be close enough to fight, and and if he killed me, “I love you” were pretty good last words.

Fortunately it never came to that. He wanted one thing. He got it and let me go.
