Police filmed getting heavy handed with suspects in parking lot outside McDonald's in McFarland, California
Cops were filmed beating a suspect lying in the parking lot of a California McDonald's with a large nightstick as horrified onlookers pleaded for them to stop.
The confrontation happened after an argument between an officer from McFarland police and customers inside the door, leading to a chase outside.
There, police were filmed hitting suspects and tackling them to the ground. While there, the suspect squirmed in police custody as one officer hit him in the legs with a large baton
It's unclear what led police to confront the customers or if anyone was charged with a crime. Video of the incident was posted to Reddit over the weekend.
McFarland police have not commented on the officer's actions, and officials did not respond to DailyMail.com's request for comment.
One social media user ripped the cop's handling of the situation and described them as a 'tax-funded gang.'
It's unclear exactly when the incident happened.
In the video, a police officer armed with a rifle that was strapped to his chest could be seen arguing with a male customer, who repeatedly asked the cop what he was doing wrong.
The video did not make it clear what led to the argument between the man and a woman standing next to him.
The cop chased after the couple once they walked out of the McDonald's while people in the restaurant began to laugh and take out their phones.
Outside, four other unnamed police officers ran to the scene and began beating the male customer with sticks while pinning the female to the ground.
The female customer was pushed to the ground by an officer after she attempted to get close to the man who had already been restrained by cops.
She was restrained and held down by another cop once she attempted to sit up.
A female officer ran over to help another cop restrain the male customer, who squirmed in police custody after they began beating him with sticks.
The video taker got a direct view of the officers aggressively restraining the male customer and repeatedly yelled, 'he's not resisting.' An officer with a large night stuck lunged briefly at the person filming, telling him to step away.
'Back up, back the f*** up,' yelled the officer.
'I'm backed up, I'm backed up,' the video taker responded.
The male customer attempted to get on his feet again, but the officers kept ahold of him, and the cop with the stick began hitting the male customer's legs while he screamed in pain.
The video taker continued to ask the officer what he was doing since the customer was restrained and 'on the f****** floor.'
'F****** McFarland a** people,' the man who filmed added.
The video ends with the cops putting the man in handcuffs while on the ground, while the officer with the nightstick keeps a watch on the ground.
It's unclear what the suspect's name is or if he was charged with a crime.
Reddit users have been debating the video since it was posted, some of which questioned the video taker's statements about the male customer resisting officers.
One Reddit user wrote: 'Do people know what resisting is these days or do they just shout out random s*** cause they're dumb?'
'I'm confused. The guy said he is not resisting but was trying to get up and away from cops,' wrote another user.
Another user said the cops look like a 'tax-funded gang,' while one wrote the officers should be punished for their actions.
'This is so stupid. The fat female officer cannot subdue the guy on the ground,' the user noted. 'So the other guys just start beating him,' the user wrote.
'They should all be fired and charged for assault with deadly weapon.'
