Usually got raped then shot. That's how cruel the war on eastern front was. Hard to even think about it. I reccomend book by Svetlana Alexievich- The Unwomanly Face of War, it shows the war from soviet women's perspective

My grandmother who fought as a sniper with partisans throughout the war in Belarus and Ukraine would often tell me about her experiences

She would talk about how many of her female colleagues would carry improvised suicide devices, or cyanide capsule but those were extremely rare.

When they would hit the rail lines transporting POWS to garner more manpower would often recruit the few surviving women,commissars and Cossacks into special “retribution or revenge” pacts where if they while on expedition outside of the swamps where they operate from, if they encounter any German settlers they would brutally torture and kill the family, often drenching the occupied homes in blood and other bodily materials

She would say how they were all fuelled by hate and rage, fighting with little to no worry for hitting medics or surrendering hostiles, they were operating on the goal of killing as many as possible in retribution through bodies.

She would go into to say that they were all united by the fact they would likely be brutally murdered The women raped The commissars executed The Cossacks would be executed first due to “racial impurity” They would operate on the goal of terrorizing and murdering Nazi colonizers until no amount of money or land offered could entice the would be settlers to step a foot in their territory.

She would remark about how Even going days without food, injured and ill could not overcome their will, fuelled by an infernal flame fuelled by burning hatred for their occupiers

Not for the commissars only. The order was "Jews and0 commissars, one step forward". These two groups were executed first. Vermacht retained some semblance of decency in occupied Western Europe; starting with Poland and later, USSR, the war turned into horror. Initially, older German soldiers and Catholics protested, but with time, it stopped. Regular Soviet prisoners...most died in Stalags, from cold, hunger, and dysentery. Some reached major concentration camps. I saw the name resembling my husband's ancestor who died in Mauthausen, but sadly, the name is too common to look further.

The Order of Severity (given by Generalfeldmarschall Walter von Reichenau) perfectly shows that the murder of female soldiers was something that was actively sought. The Wehrmacht and the SS may have committed up to 10 million cases of rapes during the USSR invasion and occupation.
