This is the bizarre moment a streaker does a naked cannonball into an Alabama Bass Pro shop pond.

Brian Owens, 42, faces public lewdness, resisting arrest, assault, criminal mischief,  and reckless endangerment charges for the offense in Leeds at 9pm on Thursday.

Footage circulating online shows it in full - after a fully naked Owens is said to have executed a cannonball from the top floor of the Bass Pro Shop into the aquarium.

The videos then show Owens, while still treading water, getting in a shouting match with officers who arrive on the scene. He hangs over the edge, and eventually hurls himself over the side and onto the cement floor, leaving him unconscious.

Cops get into a scuffle with Owens as he jolts awake, and work painstakingly to put him in cuffs.

As the still-exposed suspect starts to simmer down, a bystander provides him a blanket. The footage stops there, but officers said he was then put into a cop car and hospitalized. He was briefly jailed, but is out on bond.

Leeds Police Chief Paul Irwin on Friday explained how the incident occurred, while also revealing Owens' family had told him he suffers from mental illness.

The top cop said the suspect's episode began when he 'intentionally struck a pole' in the Bass Pro establishment's parking lot, while driving a car with his family inside.

That's when he rushed inside the store to perform his 'cannonball' leap, Irwin explained - culminating with him standing under the installment's waterfall before being reprimanded by responding officers.

Owens at that point actually exited the water to yell at two officers, Irwin said, before diving back in to egg them on.

The suspect was subsequently belligerent - and adamant against going with officers' demands, Irwin said.

'He was very erratic and was saying a lot of nasty things to the officers,' Irwin told Fox News of one of the filmed conversations seen between Owens and the arresting officers.

The argument over whether to get out of the water would continue, Irwin said - until Owens suddenly decided to climb over the side of the massive aquarium enclosure, only to plummet the several feet to the floor below.

The kick came as the two cops in the Birmingham suburb struggled to put the suspect in handcuffs - an effort that was also caught on film.

It culminated with cops leading the still-naked suspect out of the small-town store in bracelets, after an incident that in all only took about five minutes, Irwin said.

The chief went on to reveal that during Owens' arrest, the suspect kicked the first-responders patrol car to the point where it damaged the door frame, leading to one of two counts of criminal mischief - the other for hitting the pole in the parking lot.

Owens will aslo face an array of charges including public lewdness, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and second-degree assault for his filmed episode, as well as two counts of reckless endangerment for how he drove the vehicle.

The suspect was eventually taken to a hospital for treatment and a mental health evaluation, Irwin further revealed.

Owens will also face reckless endangerment and criminal mischief charges for hitting a pole in the small-town fishing supplies store's parking lot, cops confirmed Friday

The Sterrett resident was then booked into the St. Clair County Jail at 9:39 pm, jail records show, before being released at 4:30 pm the next day on an unspecified bond.

DailyMail.com has reached out to both the Ashville Jail staff and Pell City Jail staff for the amount.

As of Sunday, Owens faces one charge of public lewdness, one of disorderly conduct, one of resisting arrest, and one of second-degree assault.

He also faces two counts of criminal mischief for hitting the pole and damaging the patrol car and two counts of reckless endangerment.

'It's very unfortunate that people like this aren't receiving the treatment they need,' Irwin said of the suspect.

'I know everyone wants to write a story and think it’s funny but he had a mental problem,' he further told 1819 News, confirming Owens had been 'taken for mental [evaluation.]'

He added: 'It’s very sad.' 

A trial date was not immediately made public as of Sunday. As an investigation continues, DailyMail.com has reached out to the St Clair County District Attorney for an update.
