Audie Murphy is an overrated Gary Stu who, by becoming the most decorated U.S soldier during ww2, completely invalidated the accomplishments of Alvin York

Oh yeah the stories of these two guys (which aren't connected at all other than ones the most decorated us soldier of ww1 and the other ww2) is super fascinating. To coincide with the Luke and Rey allegory, York was sort of known for not wanting to participate in ww1 because violence went against his Christian beliefs but eventually figured that he'd save more people by fighting then just doing nothing
Anyways York almost singlehandedly captured around 130 German soldiers during ww1 and Murphy is best known for climbing on a burning tank to use it's machine gun to singlehandedly hold off advancing Germans. These dude were legitimate badasses.
This is why I think WW2 is overrated, they employ plotlines like this to try and outdo WW1 instead of writing clever new things. Like did we really need an Alvin York 2.0? Or a Kaiser 2.0 but more angry? Didn't think so
Ww2 will always be non-canon to me, the stories just feel like a hollow rehash of the original. I mean we have japanese pilots crashing their planes into american battleships and showing that doing that is more effective than dropping bombs, I mean why doesn't everyone just crash their planes into enemy ships since it's so effective, shm they ruined the lore of world history
From being brave badasses in an unforgiving front to having some weird chubby dude kill off the monarchy in a few episodes and then ruining the plot progression of the country,
