Having personally killed tens of thousands of people in his career, including 7,000 Polish officers in under a month during the "Katyn Massacre," Blokhin was undoubtedly one of the most prolific murderers in recorded history.
Blokhin became the chief executioner of the NKVD and was personally responsible for carrying out thousands of executions. He was known for his exceptional skills with a small-caliber German-made Walther pistol. Blokhin executed numerous individuals perceived as enemies of the Soviet state, including political opponents, spies, soldiers, and civilians.
Blokhin developed a particularly gruesome method for carrying out executions. He would work through the night in a small, windowless room, wearing a special leather smock to protect his clothing from blood.
He would meticulously shoot each prisoner in the back of the head for quick and efficient killings. By some accounts, Blokhin executed up to 700 prisoners in a single night.
