Germany attoned for its' sins. As someone else has pointed out, modern Germany is a different country

today that has not been reticent to confront its' past. Germany is a beacon of democracy and accepts

more refugees than any other country in Europe. We must all be careful to ensure that we protect our

democracies and safeguard from those who would take us back to a dark age, but you can be proud of your country noW sir.

Russia unfortunately, has not confronted its' past and still revels in its' past "glory". This is the result of decades of toxic nationalism and misplaced patriotism.
