DEADLY GAMBLE Desperate ‘rooftopper’ Wu Yongning fell to death livestreaming stunt in bid to get cash for wedding and sick mum
The self-described "China's First Rooftopper" who plunged to his death while livestreaming from the roof of a skyscraper, did the stunt to pay for his wedding and help his sick mum.
Wu Yongning, 26, was clinging to the side of the skyscraper and recording the stunt when he lost his grip and plunged from the 62-storey building to his death in November of 2017.
His body was said to be discovered by a window cleaner.
Wu was in the process of creating his next viral video to publish to his hugely popular social media account.
Fans could donate money to Wu if they liked his stunts.
Wu had planned to propose to his girlfriend the day after the stunt and was going to use the money to pay for his wedding and to get his sick mother medical help, the Morning Bulletin reported.
But the daring performance off the Huayuan International Centre, the capital of Hunan Province in Central China, would be his last.

The clip, which gathered more than 15 million shares online, shows Wu lowering himself over the edge of the building to do his iconic pull-ups.
However, he struggles to hoist himself back up and eventually falls out of view of the camera phone he had set up to record his stunt.
Wu's girlfriend, named only as "Jinjin", revealed that he had struck a deal with an unnamed sponsor for his next video, which, had it gone viral, would have earned him 100,000 RMB (£11,300).
Some of Wu's family also told local media he was trying to complete the dangerous stunt for 100,000 yuan in prize money as part of a competition.
It's unclear who was sponsoring the competition.
At the time, local authorities investigating the case described it as an "accident" and ruled out foul play.
When Wu stopped posting on video streaming sites Weibo and Volcano, his thousands of fans became concerned.
They have since flooded his social media page with tributes.
A Beijing court has ordered one of the livestreaming platforms Wu had used to pay 30,000 yuan ($4,300) in compensation to his mother, Beijing Youth Daily reported.
He is understood to have lost his footing and fallen to his death.
According to the police, believe Wu fell about 45 feet onto a terrace below and died of fatal injuries during or shortly after the accident.
His girlfriend said she believes Wu took a lift to "over 40 floors" and then free-climbed "nearly 20 more floors" to reach the position where he filmed.
