The tribe in Namibia Who Swap Their Wives And Offers Sex To Guests
The interesting and unique people of the Himba tribe inspired the character 'Binti' in Nnedi Okorafor's novella trilogy 'Binti'.
When a visitor comes knocking, a man shows his approval and pleasure of seeing his guest by giving him the Okujepisa Omukazendu treatment — the wife is given to his guest to spend the night while the husband sleeps in another room. In a case where there is no available room, her husband will sleep outside. This, apparently, reduces jealousy and fosters relationships.

Many fascinating facts about the Himba people, who are also the most photographed tribe in Africa, make it imperative to meet the people of the tribe.
Down in the Kunene and Omusati regions of Northern Namibia, are the semi-nomadic people of Ovahimba and Ovazimba tribes.
With a population of over 50,000, the women engage in the daily activity of milking their cows, taking care of the children and other extensive duties while the men go hunting leaving, sometimes, for an extended period of time.
These nomads’ wealth is determined by the number of cattle one has. A polygamous people, the Himba girls are married off to male partners selected by their fathers once they attain puberty.
Most of their cultures have been upheld despite western influence and agitation.
Among these is the “Man comes first” tradition. The woman has little or no opinion in the decision making. Submission to her husband’s demands come first.

Another is the “bathing is forbidden” rule. Rather than take their baths, the women take a smoke bath and apply aromatic resins on their skin.
They are also guided by the belief that the colour red signifies “Earth and blood”.
Their red skin is one of the things that make them extremely unique. The red colour is from the otjize paste (a combination of butterfat, omuzumba scrub and ochre) and its function is to protect their skin from the sun and insect bites.
Himba Influence in African Literature
The Himba people haven’t been represented a lot in Literature. However, in Nnedi Okorafor‘s fantasy novella Binti, the lead character ‘Binti’ is of the Himba poeple.
Okorafor describes the tribe as a “tribe in Namibia who use ‘sweet smelling otjize’, a mixture of ochre and butterfat over their skin, rolling it into their hair as protection against the desert sun”. In the novella, the Himba don’t travel, which directly contrasts the real Himba people who are nomads.

Man beat and stripped cheating wife fully naked – As neighbours stood to watch (See Photos)
Man beat and stripped cheating wife fully naked – As neighbours stood to watch (See Photos) Man beat and stripped cheating wife – Just saw a gruesome video online that broke my heart. Men… and even women stood and watched as this man stripped his wife to her underwear and brutally beat her with a plank. The people who posted the video online said he beat her to death, but that isn’t shown in the video. The last seconds of the video shows the man dragging the very weak woman away. They said the man attacked his wife after catching her with another man. And no, it didn’t happen in Nigeria. I screen-grabbed from the video. Most Disturbing Sexual Practices in History
Most Disturbing Sexual Practices in History From Egypt to the Middle Ages, the cultural tradition surprises with customs that today are strange and difficult to understand Society classifies sexual practices and tendencies as “normal” or “deviant”, based on cultural criteria that change over time. Good proof of this is reviewing the bedroom customs of Rome or Ancient Egypt, and observing how disturbing and unacceptable many of them are. Disturbing ancient Egypt The pharaohs allowed marriage between brothers and, in some cases, also between father and daughter, in order to preserve the purity of the lineage. Incest was allowed between monarchs and circumcision, a practice later adopted by the Jews, had a ritual character in the initiation ceremony of adolescence. The Egyptians had a more pragmatic than unrestrained view of sex. Perhaps for this reason rapists, that is, those who acted like animals without being able to contain their base passions, were reserved for a penalty as dra...

How Ireland's only female executioner got the job
How Ireland's only female executioner got the job Elizabeth Sugrue saved herself from the gallows by offering to hang her fellow condemned, and thus became Ireland’s only female executioner, says Robert Hume Elizabeth Sugrue saved herself from the gallows by offering to hang her fellow condemned, and thus became Ireland’s only female executioner, says Robert Hume Michael Manning, from Limerick, was executed in Mountjoy Prison in 1954 for raping and murdering Catherine Cooper, a nurse. The hangman was Albert Pierrepoint, a Yorkshireman: executioner by day; landlord by night. His father, Henry, and uncle, Thomas, were hangmen before him. “I love hanging Irishmen. They always go quietly and without trouble,” he supposedly said after Manning’s death. Pierrepoint was the last in a succession of hangmen in Ireland — including William Marwood, James Berry and Thomas Henry Scott, Bartholomew Binns, John Ellis and William Willis — who had been trained for the job in England. But one e...
